Places of interest outside Amsterdam

Edam

A picturesque little place just outside Amsterdam, with a rich history in shipyards, wood trade, business enterprise and last, but not least: cheese. It is easy to reach by bus or car.

Volendam and Marken

Two of the oldest Dutch fishing villages on the former Zuiderzee. You can go by boat from one village to the other and get a taste of Old Holland in both locations. Both places are just outside Amsterdam and easy to reach by bus or car.
