Het Filmmuseum

The aim of this museum is the promotion of Dutch film culture. This is achieved by collecting 'treasures from the past', restoring them and then showing them as a film collection that is praised the world over. De Hermitage

The Hermitage is new in Amsterdam. It is situated on the Nieuwe Herengracht in the Neerlandia building. It may be considered a Western offshoot of the Hermitage National Museum in Saint Petersburg, and is based on the 300-year historic link between the two cities. Like the Saint Petersburg museum, the collection in Amsterdam represents the world's best old masters, impressionist and post-impressionist works, as well as works from classical antiquity, European and Russian arts and crafts, Eastern art and objects excavated by archaeologists during the era of the Soviet Union.
