The Ambassade Hotel’s Art Collection
By virtue of their nature, hotels operate in an international environment with guests coming from every corner of the globe.
The art collection of the Ambassade Hotel reflects this international atmosphere, as the lion’s share of the works on display is composed of works by the members of the international Cobra movement.
The Dutch as well as the international members of the Cobra movement are all represented in the collection, with an emphasis on the period between 1948 and 1951: the truly magical and revolutionary years and the heyday of the Cobra movement. Oil paintings, works on paper, sculptures, art magazines, art books and ceramic objects from this turbulent period are on display throughout the hotel.
- Works by remarkable and legendary modernists such as Anton Heyboer;
- Works by contemporary artists (i.e. Marc Muders).
A prominent feature of the Ambassade Hotel collection is the work by female artists such as Lotti van der Gaag, Ans Hey and Jacqueline de Jong
